441st attack on Yüksel Avenue: 9 detained

ANKARA - Police attacked the people joining “We want our jobs back” action on its 441st day and detained nine of them.
 
The hunger strike launched by dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça has entered its 321st day, while “We want our jobs back” action initialed by Nuriye has been carried out by dismissed public laborers.
 
The public laborers wearing vests reading, “We want our jobs back” gathered on Konur Street in order to issue a press statement in front of Human Rights Monument. Closing the street with shields and detention vehicles, police didn’t allow the people to pass. The protesters therefore wanted to make a statement in front of police shields and unfurled a banner reading, “On the 321st day of hunger strike, Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated.” Police attacked the public laborers while they were reading the statement and detained İlker Işık, Mert Karatağ, Barbaros Aslan, Simge Aksan, Hüsnü Yıldız, Mahmut Konuk, Cemal Yıldırım, Nazan Bozkurt and Gülnaz Bozkurt.
