418th day on Yüksel: They are trying to discipline us with hunger

ANKARA – Six people saying, “They are trying to discipline us with hunger,” have been taken into custody by police on the 418th day of “We want our jobs back” action. 
 
As the hunger strike launched by dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça has entered its 298th day, the “We want our jobs back” action held by the supporters of two educators has entered in its 418th day. Police blocked the way of protesters, who wanted to make a statement in front of Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Avenue. The protesters thereupon gathered in Konur Street and unfurled a banner reading, “Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated”. One of the protesters, Alev Şahin said “They are trying to discipline us with hunger. Nuriye and Semih cannot be discipline with hunger for 298 days. We won’t be disciplined with hunger. We will resist until we are reinstated, we are laborers and we are right.”

Police attacked the protesters and detained Alev Şahin, İlker Işık, Simge Akam, Mehmet Dersulu, Nazan Bozkurt and Gülnaz Bozkurt.
