'We are continuing to stand by democracy’

Confederation of Public Employees Trade Union (KESK), Central Governing Committee (MYK) member Gülistan Atasoy said that they have launched a “Not OHAL, We Want Democracy” campaign since July 2016. Gülistan also added, "The conditions of the employees here were taken into consideration and we wanted to meet with the governor of Amed, but they didn’t return us. This also reflects the policies that they practiced. The Assembly was made completely dysfunctional. Numerous laws passed from the assembly without approval of MPs. We see that emergency decree (OHAL) effects whole society. The government practices OHAL to hide their dirty policies. The fear mood is for stifling the society, this is why they want to spread this fear. We know that OHAL was declared against society and against them. We are continuing to expand the struggle and to stand by democracy.”
