Conscientious objector Zeynep Ağbayır jailed

ISTANBUL - Zeynep Duygu Ağbayır, first woman wearing a head scarf to publicly declare herself a conscientious objector, has been jailed in Ağrı province.
 
Anti-capitalist Muslims member Zeynep Duygu Ağbayır, who was taken into custody after police raided her home in Istanbul and taken to Ağrı province, has been jailed by the court.
 
A confidentiality order has been issued for Zeynep’s case by the court. Zeynep worked as a teacher under contract in Ağrı for two years and she launched aid campaigns for children. Zeynep is known as the first woman wearing a head scarf to publicly declare herself a conscientious objector in Turkey.
