390th day on Yüksel Avenue: 5 people including Acun Karadağ detained

ANKARA – Police attacked the “We want our jobs back” action carried out in solidarity with dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça and detained five people, including Acun Karadağ and Alev Şahin. 
 
The hunger strike launched by dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça has entered in its 270th day. The “We want our jobs back” action carried out on Yüksel Avenue of Ankara by laborers in solidarity with Nuriye and Semih has entered in its 390th day. On the 390th day, police attacked the protesters again. 
 
The protesters wanted to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument; however, police didn’t allow them. In response, the protesters unfurled banners reading, “Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and “Demanding our jobs back is not a crime”. 
 
Police tore the banners and detained Acun Karadağ, Alev Şahin, Perihan Pulat, İlker Işık and Meltem Servi. The journalists weren’t allowed to take pictures while the detained people were taken into detention vehicles.
