VAN - Coal, which is distributed freely, not only causes air pollution but also risks health of people of Van.
 
In Serhat region, there is snowfall and it affects people’s life negatively. The citizens have to use coal stove alternatively to get warm. Coal causes pollution due to the carbon monoxide and also causes poisoning. In one of the city of Serhat region, in Van people have started to light their coal burning stove and they prefer coal stove as fuel. Last week, a family with two children was taken to hospital for treatment due to the poisoning from carbon monoxide gas, which spread by coal stove in Tuşba district of Van. Free coal distributed by the state, spreads poison and it also risks people’s life safety.
 
Coal smoke spreads disease
 
The coal stove, which is in almost every house in Van, continues to light from the morning up to late hours. The poisonous gas on the city’s air can be seemed. The citizens, who have to use state’s free coal due to the fact that their economic condition is not good enough, states that these coals are not controlled and they cause poisoning.
 
The citizens can’t open their windows due to the intense coal smell, and they want a solution for their problems.
 
The authorities keep silent
 
Every year hundreds of people get poisoned, also many of them die. On the other hand, carbon monoxide gas brings about air pollution. Although ecologists are opposed to using coal, there are thousands of coal mine and there are thousands of workers, who have no life safety in thousands of kilometers deep of the floor. Lastly, seven workers lost their life in the coal mine wreckage on October. The authorities continue to keep silent what is happened and to distribute poisoned coals. Authorities also, continue to let the coal mines, which haven’t got any safety to be opened.
