Meral’s goats become her companion...

DİYARBAKIR - The sincere bond between Meral Erdoğan, who makes a living by doing sheep and goat breeding in the Çarıklı village of Diyarbakır’ Sur district and her goats reflect woman-nature relation, which is the same as Neolithic Period.
 
Meral Erdoğan(40), who lives in the Çarıklı village of Diyarbakır’s Sur district, makes a living sheep and goat breeding, which is only means of living of her family. Stating that her family migrated from Mardin’s Mazidağı district to Çarıklı village of Diyarbakır and they have only sheep and goat breeding to make a living, says that doing husbandry is very hard for them.
 
Meral feeds her animals four times in a day and states that despite all these difficulties, there is a different bond between female animals and women. The bond between Meral and her animals resembles a life in Neolithic Period.
 
I did husbandry during my whole life
 
Meral, has done husbandry and she has lived with animals together for 25 years since her childhood. Meral states that most of the time she shares her sadness, pain, and happiness with animals. Believing that there is a bond between women and female animals, Meral says “I believe that they understand me. Particularly female goats come up to me when I feel blue. For this reason, I hook myself on them. I fell very sorry when they have to leave me after all these labors that I gave for them. However, I know that we have to do that and I try to not make them understand my sadness.”
 
Meral also says that she doesn’t only do goat breeding but also she does yogurt and cheese from goat’s milk. Besides, she states that she sells her neighborhoods yogurt and milk that she made and says that she produce milk products for her own house.
