ANKARA – Police attacked the “We want our jobs back” action held to support Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça and detained five people.

The hunger strike launched by two educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who were dismissed by an emergency decree, has entered in its 257th day whilst the “We want our jobs back” action launched by two educators’ supporters in front of Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Avenue has entered in its 377th day.

Police didn’t allow the protesters to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument. Thereupon, the protesters gathered in Konur Street and unfurled banners reading, “The hunger strike on the 257th day, Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and “Lawyers of Nuriye and Semih should be released”. Police attacked them and detained Nazan Bozkurt, İlker Işık, Perihan Pulat and two unidentified people.
