ISTANBUL-Halkevleri Foundation ran for ‘My daughter will go to school’ campaign during the 39th Istanbul Marathon.

39th Istanbul Marathon was held in Istanbul yesterday. Hundreds volunteers runners participated in the marathon in order to support the “My daughter will go to school” campaign launched by Halkevleri Foundation for girls’ right to education. General President of the foundation Oya Ersoy, the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) General Secretary Arzu Çerkezoğlu, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul MP Filiz Kerestecioğlu, Republican People's Party (CHP) İzmir MP Zeynep Altıok Akatlı, Ahmet Atakan’s mother Emsal Atakan and his brother Zafer Atakan and many members of the foundation wore a t-shirt reading, “My daughter will go to school” and participated in the marathon.

Money raised by the campaign will be used to meet the students’ needs for dormitory and scholarship and to organize activities that support the education of children.

The campaign is waiting for funders to support more students.
