RAQQA- Commanders of the YPJ led the operation to liberate Raqqa stated that they dedicated the Raqqa victory to PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and said, “We will continue to resist until we provide freedom for all women.”

Following the liberation of Daesh’s capital Raqqa led by women, victory tours and celebrations of the fighters continue in the city center. As the YPJ, YPG and SDF fighters dance the halay of freedom, Raqqa city faced many massacres until now smells freedom. The fighters carrying the flags of the YPJ, YPG and SDF wrap themselves in the color that took Raqqa from darkness.

Commander Fidan Kobanê expresses her excitement as follows;

“As it is known, Raqqa was the capital of Daesh. We made a great statement in the heart of Raqqa, al-Naim Square. Liberation of Raqqa becomes a historic step for martyr friends, who have lost their lives by resisting the liberation of the idea and ideology of the society and for Arab people. This success was achieved by the resistance of the women on front line, friends from the SDF and the YPG. And we dedicate this victory to the people of Raqqa and all peoples of Syria.

I dedicate the liberation of Raqqa particularly to Leader Abdullah Öcalan, to all the women of the world and to women of the YPJ. Raqqa has been liberated with the efforts of many martyrs and fighters who are still fighting. This liberation becomes the revenge of all women in Shengal and Syria.”

Klara Rakka, one of the commanders who coordinated the operation, expresses her feelings as follows:

“The liberation of Raqqa, the caliphate capital of Daesh, by the YPJ and YPG fighters makes all of us happy. We dedicate the liberation of Raqqa to Leader Abdulah Öcalan, who is the builder of today and lights our way with his ideas.

We dedicate the liberation of Raqqa to fighters of freedom and to all women resisting. Efforts of women in the liberation of Raqqa were great. The YPJ planted the flag of freedom. Daesh sold Ezidi women and beheaded the people in this square and today we planted our flag here by taking revenge of all of these.

We repeat our promise; we want to point out that we are ready to defend all oppressed women.”

Rojda Felat, who excites all women of the world with her statement since beginning, expresses her excitement as follows:

“I dedicate today to all our martyrs. Now we are in the al-Naim Square called ‘death square’ by Daesh. This means a lot for us. We gave a promise before. We said that 2017 will be the year of women’s freedom. We kept our promise. We take the capital of Daesh from them. This is a major defeat for Daesh gangs and an enormous success for us as women.

We will continue our struggle even if a woman remains in the hand of Daesh. We will continue to resist until we provide freedom for all women.”
