334th day of Yüksel Resistance: Detention starts before action starts

ANKARA –Police started to detain the protesters before ‘We want our jobs back” action started on Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue. Eight people, whose names are unknown, have been detained.

As the hunger strike launched by academic Nuriye Gülmen and teacher Semih Özakça, who were dismissed by emergency decrees, has entered in the 214th day, “We want our jobs back” action carried out by public laborers at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue in order to support the two educators and to demand their jobs back has entered in the 334th day.

Like every day, protesters gathered in Konur Street in order to make a statement in front of blockaded Human Rights Monument. But before the action started, police began to detain the people. Eight people, whose names are unknown, have been detained by police.

A woman protester, who faced severe police intervention while being detained, fell down in a fit. The woman, whose name is unknown, remained on the ground for minutes in the middle of the police group.

Police also detained two citizens walking around on Yüksel Avenue. The citizens tried to convince the police officers that they weren’t protesters; however, police took them into the detention vehicle.
