333rd day of Yüksel Resistance: 3 detained

ANKARA - The continuing “We want our jobs back” action despite all attacks has entered in the 333rd day. Police detained three people, including Seyri Sokak reporter Oktay İnce.

As the hunger strike launched by academic Nuriye Gülmen and teacher Semih Özakça, who were dismissed by emergency decrees, has entered in the 213rd day, “We want our jobs back” action carried out by public laborers at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue in order to support the two educators and to demand their jobs back has entered in the 333rd day.

‘Nuriye and Semih are our honor’

Protesters gathered in Konur Street in order to make a statement in front of blockaded Human Rights Monument. Police stopped them between Konur Street and Yüksel Avenue with shields. The protesters unfurled a banner reading, “Hunger strike is on the 123rd day, release Nuriye and Semih” and shouted the slogan “Nuriye and Semih are our honor”.

‘Free press cannot be silenced’

Police attacked the protesters and detained three people, including Seyri Sokak reporter Oktay İnce. The protesters reacted to the detention and shouted, “Free press cannot be silenced”.
