Parliamentary membership of HDP MP Besime Konca revoked

ANKARA – Parliamentary membership of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Siirt MP Besime Konca has been revoked due to conviction. Until now, the parliamentary memberships of five HDP MPs have been revoked and four of them are women representatives.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Siirt MP and HDP Women’s Assembly Spokesperson Besime Konca has lost her seat in the Turkish parliament. Besime Konca had been sentenced to two years and five months in prison by the local court and the Antep Regional Court approved the prison sentence.

Previously, the parliamentary membership of HDP former Co-chair and HDP Van MP Figen Yüksekdağ and HDP Diyarbakır MP Nursel Aydoğan were revoked and then the parliamentary membership of HDP Van MP Tuğba Hezer and HDP Şırnak MP Faysal Sarıyıldız were revoked.

HDP, which won 59 seats in the general election held on November 1, 2015, has now 54 seats in the parliament.
