326th day of Yüksel resistance: Laborers continue to resist

ANKARA- Hunger strike launched by dismissed academic Nuriye Gülmen and dismissed teacher Semih Özakça has continued in the 206th day. Yüksel Resistance carried out by dismissed public laborers and their supporters has entered in the 326th day.

Hunger strike launched by academic Nuriye Gülmen and teacher Semih Özakça, who were dismissed by emergency decrees, has entered in the 206th day. “We want our jobs back” action carried out by public laborers at Ankara’s Yüksel Avenue in order to support the two educators and to demand their jobs back has entered in the 326th day. Meanwhile, the hunger strike launched by Esra Özakça, wife of Semih Özakça, has entered in the 131st day.

Protesters, who wanted to make a statement in front of Human Rights Monument surrounded by police barriers. Police closed the street entrance with shields and didn’t allow the protesters to enter. Thereupon, the protesters wanted to make the statement in front of the shields and unfurled banners reading, “Hunger strike of Nuriye and Semih is on the 206th day, Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and “Nazife Onay should be released”. Police attacked the mass and tore the banners.
