On the path to truth, with women’s pen

 

 

In a male-dominated world that tells us to "shut up, as a woman," we begin our journey with the help of the experience of the many women who persistently, faithfully raise women’s voices and elevate women’s writing.

 

The women journalists before us never submitted to domination; we inherit their approach to women’s journalism. We are breaking the mirror, searching for women’s memories, and raising our voices from the place we left off. With this same heritage, we are fighting back against the masculine, sexist, militarist, male-dominated media and state that disregard all living things.

 

Truth was at freedom’s fingertips, and reaching the truth made us free. Now, with JINNEWS, we are following the path of truth and speaking with the voice of freedom.

 

We are writing to shake up the patriarchal structure and language that the media has accepted until now. We are writing to change life with women’s words. And we are writing to spread feminist discourse using women’s consciousness, based on the field of Jineology.

 

We long ago left behind the boundaries of "acceptable womanhood" imposed upon us. We are now moving on to self-defense, with a solidarity between women that leaves the patriarchy trembling in fear. With our motto of “the personal is political,” we continue to stand with women; to protect victims; and to unmask perpetrators.

 

We are the subject of every news story that we write that stands against the male state and masculine domination—entities that attack women, children, nature, life, memory, identity, and all peoples.

 

With the same heritage, and the same experience… With the accumulated knowledge, belief, and persistence that we have taken from women like Rosa Luxemburg, Zabel Yaseyan, Gurbetelli Ersöz, Emma Goldman, Virginia Woolf, Ayfer Serçe, Ulrike Meinhof, Zeynep Erdem, Deniz Fırat and Nujiyan Erhan, we repeat the words of the women who came before us: " We will continue to write without thinking what men will decree.”

 

We were here, we are here, and we will always be here!
