Isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan brought to agenda of parliament

ANKARA - HDP Batman MP Feleknas Uca brought the heavy isolation conditions imposed on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to the parliamentary agenda with the parliamentary question.
 
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Batman MP Feleknas Uca asked Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül about the isolation conditions imposed on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.
 
‘Application will be discussed on November 30’
 
It was reminded that Asrın Law Office and Non-Governmental Organizations applied to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on July 29 to request the lift of aggravated life sentence for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş, who are in Imralı Prison. The parliamentary question stated, ‘’This application will be discussed at the meeting of the Committee of Ministers on November 30. The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) found that Abdullah Öcalan’s receive sentence to aggravated life sentence without the right to conditional release violated the European Convention on Human Rights. The ECtHR has given a decision that Abdullah Öcalan was subjected to systematic violence and isolation. This decision has not been implemented by Turkey for seven years’’.
