NEWS CENTER - Reacting to Yeşim Salkım, who defended Tamer Karadağlı and argued that artists cannot be political, musician Ceylan Ertem said: ‘’An artist can be political, dissident and can revolt’’.

 

Musician Ceylan Ertem reacted to singer Yeşim Salkım, who supported Tamer Karadağlı, who made racist statements after his attitude when he presented her award to actress Nihal Yalçın at the 58th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.

Yeşim, who gave an interview to a newspaper, used racist and sexist sentences, arguing that artists should not be political.

By reacting to Yeşim’s statements, Ceylan said the following on her digital media account: ‘’It is a fashionable behavior to be on the agenda; shooting a line. An artist can be political, dissident, can revolt, be a voice to rebellion, may rebel, can lead into riot. Artist can keep our memory alive, falling note on the history and write songs like document’’.
