Parliamentary question on violations of rights occured in prison

ANKARA - HDP MP Remziye Tosun submitted a parliamentary question to the parliament regarding the rights violations that prisoners Gülistan Tekin and Çiğdem Şakar faced in prison.
 
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Remziye Tosun submitted a parliamentary question asking the Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül to answer the rights violations faced by Gülistan Tekin and Çiğdem Şakar, the prisoners in Burhaniye T Type Women’s Closed Prison.
 
In the parliamentary question, Remziye stated: ‘’Prisoners Gülistan Tekin and Çiğdem Şakar, who are in Burhaniye T Type Women’s Closed Prison, reported that they were subjected to physical and psychological violence by three officers in the prison, and that they were subjected to pressure and threats by the prison director and the prison officers. Gülistan Tekin wanted to file a criminal complaint against two prison officers in Burhaniye T Type Women’s Closed Prison, but was prevented by the administration. Tekin and Şakar declared that their petitions were not sent and processed. They also stated that sometimes letters and faxes are not sent or given to them. Gülistan Tekin explained in her last phone call with her family that they do not have life safety. Tekin and Şakar, who stayed in the same ward, made several requests for referring, but their requests were rejected.
