VAN - Gülüstan Önver, the imprisoned Co-chair of MEBYA-DER Van Branch, shared that in her weekly meeting with her relative, the guards pressured her to ‘’go to the neutral ward’’.

It has been revealed that prison guards pressured Gülüstan Önver, the Van Branch Co-chair of the Association for Assistance and Solidarity with Families who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER), one of the names who had been arrested in a raid on her home on May 19 in Van, to ‘’transfer to a neutral ward’’. It is stated that the guards asked her daughter, who visited Gülüstan for a weekly family meeting yesterday, by pointing to the ‘’neutral ward’’ and asking, ‘’Why doesn’t your mother go to the other ward?’’ At the meeting, Gülüstan said that the guards were pressuring her to move to the neutral ward. Stating that she reacted to their words by not being in contact with the guards, Gülüstan said that she would take legal action.

On the other hand, explaining the prison conditions, Gülüstan said that the ward was damp and cold, and that she had difficulty in meeting her personal needs because she had three hernia surgeries, two from her waist and one from her neck, before she was arrested.
