Fire in Manavgat spreads to settlements

ANTALYA - The forest fire, which broke out at four different points in Manavgat, spread to the settlements. It is reported that there were injuries in the fire.
 
In the Manavgat district of Antalya, forest fires broke out at four points in Yeniköy, Sarılar, Bahçelievler and Sorgun regions. In the fire area, where the intervention from the air and land continued, the flames moved towards the settlements with the effect of the wind. The flames reached the petrol stations on the Antalya-Alanya highway.
 
The fire, which spread to settlements and agricultural areas, also reached the district center. Due to the fire, citizens in the district are called not to go out on the streets. It was stated that there were also those who were injured due to the fire, and that the Manavgat State Hospital, which was located in the forest area, was emptied.
 
After the flames reached the city center, three neighborhoods were emptied.
 
Four-storey building burned
 
While it was learned that the fire in Sarılar Neighborhood broke out in the area where the forest warehouse and wood-selling workplaces are located, a four-storey building with a carpenter’s workshop turned into ashes. Many homes were affected by the fire.
Manavgat District Governor Mustafa Yiğit said: ‘’The fire is moving towards settlements. Some houses in Evrenseki, Kalemler and Yeniköy Neighborhoods were emptied due to the fire.’’ Manavgat Mayor Şükrü Sözen sated: ‘’The fire reached the settlements, damaging houses and workplaces. The fire has reached the center of Manavgat.’’
