Imralı application from Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers

ISTANBUL - Lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office to meet with their clients.
 
The lawyers of Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan, Mazlum Dinç, İbrahim Bilmez, Nevroz Uysal and Serbay Köklü, applied to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting a meeting with their client.
 
It was revealed that Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office imposed a six-month visit ban with lawyers on September 23, 2020, on the grounds of the "Road Map" prepared in addition to Abdullah Öcalan's defense submitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in 2009.
 
Although the ban ended on March 23, neither a positive nor a negative response to the applications made by the lawyers are received.
Rezan Sarıca and Nevroz Uysal, one of Abdullah Öcalan's lawyers, last met with their clients on May 2-22, June 12-18, and August 7, 2019, after eight years.

Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions in the Imralı High Security F Type Closed Prison for 22 years, was given the right to call on the phone for the first time on April 27, 2020. Abdullah Öcalan had a phone conversation with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on March 25, after the public's concerns about some of the posts on social media grew. Mehmet Öcalan announced that this conversation was interrupted.
