DİYARBAKIR - MED-DER organized a festival for children in Sarmaşık Village of Eğil district to draw attention to the Kurdish language.
 
Mesopotamia Language and Culture Research Association (MED-DER) organized a festival for children in Sarmaşık (Basraf) Village of Eğil district to draw attention to the importance of Kurdish language.
 
Attention was drawn to the importance of Kurdish
 
Children were taught letters and words in the Zazakî dialect of Kurdish. After the education in Kurdish, painting and music studies were carried out with the children. After the music practice, the children danced the halay by singing the song "Zimane Kurdî".
 
‘It is very nice to study in Kurdish’
 
Dılcin Elmas (5-year-old), one of the children to whom we extent the microphone, stated that was happy with the event and said: ‘’It is very nice to have education in Kurdish. I would like to receive education in Kurdish at school. We both learned and had fun. We sang songs and drew pictures. They gave gifts. Everything was fun.’’
 
‘I would like to study Kurdish at school’
 
Zeynep Kaş (10-year-old) stated that the event was fun and educatory and said: ‘’I would like events like this to be continuous. We had a great time. It was the first time I had education in my mother tongue. I would like to have Kurdish education in my school.’’
 
After the activities, Kurdish education kits were distributed to the children.
The event ended with "Bijî zimanê Kurdî" slogans and halay dances.
