31 people who abused children by begging detained

ISTANBUL - In Zeytinburnu, 30 people were detained, including Adem Y., who abused women and children by begging around public transportation vehicles and traffic lights.
 
31 people who abused women and children by begging around metro, metrobus and traffic lights in Istanbul were detained. The Children’s Branch of the Istanbul Police Department carried out an operation against the network that was begging women and children, which were detected to have come from Adana, in Zeytinburnu Maltepe Neighborhood yesterday.
 
Network leader Adem Y. and 30 suspects accompanying him were detained in the operation. A total of 7100 liras of money, numerous telephones, and bank receipts of 120,000 liras, deposited at intervals to the bank account issued in the name of Adem Y., were found during the searches made at the addresses.
 
While 21 women and two men from the captured network were released after their statements, it was reported that the investigation proceedings were continuing for eight suspect men.
 
On the other hand, it was learned that nine out of 12 abused children were placed in dormitories affiliated to the Family and Social Services Directorate, and three children were handed over to their families.
