Visit from EU delegation to HDP Izmir Provincial Organization

İZMİR - The EU delegation visited HDP İzmir Provincial Organization and offered their condolences and solidarity wishes. The delegation also condemned the attack.
 
The delegation, including Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, EU Press Counselor Miray Akdağ, Head of EU Delegation Unit Alexander Fricke, EU Delegation Project Manager Lisa Westling, visited People’s Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Provincial Organization. HDP MP Murat Çepni, HDP İzmir Provincial Co-chairs Besriye Tekgür and Kadir Badur, Provincial executives and Peace Mothers welcomed the EU delegation. The EU delegation commemorated Deniz in the provincial building where she was murdered.
 
‘We are here to condemn the attack’
 
After writing in Deniz's diary, Ambassador Nikolaus offered his condolences to her family and HDP. The delegation visited the party building and exchanged information about what happened. "We are here to condemn the horrific attack on HDP," said Nikolaus, who was in front of the cameras after the investigations. Noting that he conveyed his respects to Deniz and her family, Nikolaus stated: "I also offer my sincere wishes to the local HDP executives."
 
‘The attack was made on the people and democracy’
 
HDP İzmir Provincial Co-Chair Besriye Tekgür, who said that they thanked the delegation for their solidarity visit, said: "The attack was not carried out only on HDP or to Deniz comrade. The attack was made against all Turkey people and democracy. We hope that the government and those around it will use their language more carefully against the opposition from now on.”
After the speeches, the visit continued in a closed manner to the press.
 
After the closed visit to the press that lasted for about half an hour, Nikolaus left carnation at the place where Deniz was murdered and held a minute's silence.
 
The delegation then left the building.
