ISTANBUL - Emphasizing that the women who were on the streets all week long against the attack on the HDP İzmir Provincial Organization building and the murder of Deniz Poyraz, they will continue to be on the streets for every murdered woman, they said to the government: "We will be in the streets with all our strength and will give our answer."

 

Women are protesting in the streets against the attack on the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Provincial Organization building in the morning of 17 June and the murder of Deniz Poyraz. Throughout the week, women in 12 districts of Istanbul and all over Turkey did not leave the streets to destroy the climate of fear that the government wanted to create with the slogans "Deniz Poyraz is immortal". The women to whom we held microphones during the protests in Istanbul emphasized that they would lay claim to Deniz's struggle.

 

‘We know who the instigators are’

 

Noting that Deniz was murdered by the state, HDP Istanbul Deputy Dilşat Canbaz reminded the perpetrator Onur Gencer's words, "I would have done the same thing if there were 40 people there," and said: "It's not a discrete incident, it's not a personal murder. It was a very quick arrest. This arrest was made so quickly that nothing could be investigated. But we know very well who the shooters and instigators are. This massacre took place under the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior, the Izmir Governor's Office, and the Police. That bullet is a fired bullet for everyone who is in favor of peace and democracy. For this reason, responsibility falls on all opposition forces other than HDP and HDP."

 

‘The killing of the Kurdish is a matter of rent for the government’

 

Dilşat, who reacted to the decision for the trial of the police who murdered Berkin Elvan in the past days, said: "The sentence given to the murderer police in the court of decision is 16 years and the police were not arrested. Because he is protected by his instigators. Deniz's murderer was also protected and brought to court. The murder of a Kurd, Alevi or woman is a matter of rent for them. None of the state-gang-mafia trio is a coincidence. Just as Deniz's murder and the punishment given to Berkin's murderer today are no coincidence. For this, we need to make noise wherever we are, to be on the street. We must continue to say our word on the streets and in our own spaces, especially women, so that we can get out of this fear psychology first."

 

‘We will not give up, we are in the fields’

 

Fatma Apaydın said: "For a long time, the AKP-MHP fascism has been talking about the massacre. With this massacre perpetrated on our friend Deniz Poyraz, the message "we will do this to all of you" is given. We will not give up, we are in the fields, we are everywhere, and we stand shoulder to shoulder. My call to women, let's not let one more person be missing, let's stand side by side."

 

‘We exist and we are here’

 

Azize Yılmaz expressed her condolences to Deniz's family and said: "We condemn this fascist state. A woman friend of ours was killed openly. Games are played through HDP and women. But they will not win. They are attacking HDP through mainstream media. But we say HDP is the people, the people are here. They will not be able to finish HDP with this game, we exist, and we are here."

 

‘We will be in the fields with our strength’

 

Saying that they will be on the streets for every murdered woman, Makbule Yılmaz said: "We are in the squares, and we are HDP members. The bullet fired at Deniz was fired at all Kurdish women. This is how we read. They are afraid of us. We condemn the Turkish state. They are afraid of women's power. We will be in the fields with all our strength, and we will give our answer."
