Action of relatives of disappears on its 644th week

DİYARBAKIR - İHD Diyarbakır Branch and the relatives of the disappears asked about the fate of 70-year-old Yusuf Nergiz, who disappeared in Kulp district in the 644th week of their protests.
 
The Human Rights Association (İHD) Diyarbakır Branch and the relatives of the disappears carried out the 644th action online with the slogan "Let the missing be found, let the perpetrators be tried". In the action, the fate of Yusuf Nergiz, who was stated to have been detained in Diyarbakır Kulp district on October 3, 1997, was asked. Ercan Yılmaz, a member of the İHD Board, told the story of Yusuf.
Stating that 70-year-old Yusuf, who lives in Diyarbakır, was going back and forth between the city and the village to cultivate his lands in the village of Narlıca in the Kulp district, Ercan said that he went to the village on September 29, 1997. Ercan stated that Yusuf was detained after a raid was carried out by soldiers affiliated with Kulp Gendarmerie Command in his house on October 1 at 22:00 pm. Ercan noted that Yusuf, who was questioned for 24 hours at the police station where he was taken, went back to the police station in the morning after he was released on condition that he came to the police station.
 
‘There will be no news from Yusuf Nergiz again’
 
Stating that the village guard named Alaattin Şahin at the police station shouted to Yusuf, "Get out of here, cut your ticket now and go to Diyarbakır." Ercan said: "Yusuf Nergiz, leaving the police station, goes to the terminal to go to Diyarbakır and buys a ticket. Here he meets his brother Adil Nergiz, who lives in the village. After telling his brother what happened, he gets on the red minibus with the plate number 21 AR 474 used by the driver named Şevket and sets off for Diyarbakır. According to eyewitness accounts, right after that, the village guard named Alaattin Şahin, who fired him in front of the police station, also gets on the minibus. We will never hear from Yusuf Nergiz again."
 
‘The fate is still unknown’
 
Stating that Yusuf's wife, Şahibe Nergiz, applied to Kulp Public Prosecutor's Office and was told, "Why didn't you come earlier, you were late." Ercan said: "She met with Alaattin Şahin, the village guard on the same day, and said that she could not hear from her husband, and asks where he can be. Alaattin Şahin tells her that on October 3, 1997, they set off for Diyarbakır in the same minibus and handed him over to Zeyrek Police Station. Yusuf Nergiz has not been heard from since October 3, 1997, and his fate is still unknown.”

Emphasizing that as human rights defenders and relatives of the disappeared, they will continue their uninterrupted search for justice on Saturdays for 12 years and stated that they will persistently continue their struggle with the demands of confronting the past, revealing the truth, and ensuring justice.
