ANKARA - It turned out that witness statements were taken before the Kobanê Trail was passed on to the merits and without lawyers. Lawyer Nuray Özdoğan said: "Witness statements are falling for UYAP, even though we have not started to defend on the merits".

 

The third session of the second hearing of the Kobanê Trial, in which 108 people, 28 of whom were arrested, including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former Co-Chairs, Central Executive Board members and executives, continue with the defense of lawyers.

 

HDP Central Executive Board member Berfin Özgül Köse and HDP Ecology Commission member Prof. Dr. Emine Beyza Üstün’s lawyer, Nuray Özdoğan, stated that witness statements were taken in a hearing in the absence of lawyers.

 

Nuray shared the information that witness statements were taken before proceeding with the merits regarding the trial and said: “How can you get witness statements before proceeding with the merits? Witness statements are sent to UYAP, although we have not started to defend on the merits. We need to see those witnesses here. I would like to know where and in which courthouse statements were taken while the witnesses were being heard. When those witness statements are received, I want to decide myself whether I will be there or not. Witness statements regarding the merits are being taken.’’
