VAN - The family of TJA activist Sevil Rojbin Çetin, who has been held in Mardin E Type Closed Prison for 6 months, noted the risk of developing bowel cancer due to long-standing rectal bleeding. Her family asked for releasing of Rojbin.

Sevil Rojbin Çetin, an activist of Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) and a member of the Board of Local Governments, was detained for 12 days after she was tortured with dogs for three hours in a raid on her home in Diyarbakır on June 26. Later, she was arrested by the court where she was taken and sent to Mardin E Type Closed Prison. Rojbin has rectal bleeding for six months and her health gets worse.

Her family wanted Rojbin to be released due to being treated because they are worried about her health problems.

'There is a risk of bowel cancer'

Stating that Rojbin has been suffering from rectal bleeding for six months, her brother and General Surgery Specialist Doctor Erman Çetin said that there may be a risk of bowel cancer in long-term bleeding. Noting that patients with such complaints should have colonoscopy, "We were going to start a treatment process for Rojbin's illness. She was going to come to Batman to do a colonoscopy, but she was arrested and her treatment was not started. She is currently using iron lack and anemia medications. There is a need for a colonoscopy. She previously had polyps in the gall bladder and underwent surgery, he said.

'I'm worried about condition of my daughter'

Her mother, Refika Çetin, said: ''I do not accept her being inside prison and not being treated as my daughter is so sick. In the phone call I made with my daughter she said 'They do not take us to the hospital due to the epidemic. We have health problems. They need to take care about us, ". They took my daughter to the hospital only once. My daughter said that with the blow she received during the torture, her eyes cannot see well. If she is not treated, she could go blind in the future. Prison conditions are very bad. I'm worried about condition of my daughter. "

"What will they respond to mothers?"

Underlining that they do not accept practices intended at sick prisoners, Refika said, “If prisoners lose their lives in prison, what will they respond to their mothers? They put our children in prisons while they have no guilt. They don't release our children because they defend their rights. If Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a conscience, he would say "I also have children," and released the prisoners. He has not seen the trouble of his children yet, he cannot understand us. Now let our prisoners free ”she said.
