36 priests in Canada sexually harassed 29 children

NEWS CENTER - Canada's Catholic Archdiocese of the Province of British Columbia has announced that since 1950, 36 priests have exposed 29 children to sexual abuse.
 
Canada's Catholic Archdiocese of British Columbia Province announced for the first time the results of an investigation. According to the results of the program called ‘’The Fifth Estate’’, published in the country's official broadcasting company CBC, 36 priests have reportedly sexually abused 29 children since 1950.
 
The Archdiocese called on those who had been exposed to sexual abuse of priests and invited them for a meeting. ‘’The case is handled in a very serious and respectful way’’ said the Canadian Catholic Bishop's Association.
 
2 thousand cases of sexual abuse
 
In the United States, the Vatican reported that there were 2,000 cases of sexual abuse by  the priests last year and that the priests have become the embarrassment of the Catholic world. According to a 2004 study by the US Catholic Archbishops Conference, more than 4,000 Catholic priests in the country during the period 1950-2002 have exposed 10,687 children to sexual abuse.
 
From Chile to Australia, tens of thousands of children have been exposed to abuse in the Catholic world, the Vatican said it was "embarrassing and sad."
