Attack on HDP members trying to make a statement

VAN - Police attack the people gathering in front of the building of Van Metropolitan Municipality in order to make a statement about the appointed trustee to the municipality by Interior Ministry. The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) members are expected to make the statement in front of party’s building.
 
The citizens gathering in front of the building Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in the morning started to march to the building of Van Metropolitan Municipality in order to protest the appointment of trustee to the municipality by Interior Ministry. Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayors Bedia Özgökçe Ertan and Mustafa Avcı, HDP Van MP Muazzez Orhan, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) provincial and district managers and HDP Co-chairs gathered in front of the municipal building. Police blockaded the HDP members using TOMA (Intervention Vehicle against Social Incidents), armored vehicles and riot police. The police didn’t allow the HDP member to make the statement and warned them to leave in three minutes.
 
After the warning, HDP Van MP Muazzez Orhan said, “You usurp the will of the people; you cannot prevent us entering our municipality. We will stand by what is ours.” After the police attack, the members left there and went to the party building.
 
The HDP members are expected to make a statement in front of the party building.
