
Heyva Sor: At least 65 civilians killed in Afrin

	NEWS CENTER - Heyva Sor a Kurdistan (the Red Crescent in Kurdistan) has released a report and announced that at least 65 civilians have been killed in airstrikes started by Turkish Armed Forces between January 20 and January 29 on Afrin. The report warns that serious humanitarian and medical aids are needed for civilians.

	Heyva Sor a Kurdistan (the Red Crescent in Kurdistan) has released a report on attacks against Afrin and announced that at least 65 civilians have been killed in bombardments by Turkish Armed Forces and Free Syrian Army (FSA) between January 20 and January 29 on Afrin. &nbsp;The report states that the population of Afrin was about 500.000 before 2011 and with the immigration of displaced 250.000 people to the Afrin this number has been reacted to 800,000 people.

	According to the Heyva Sor’s report base on the statements by civil activists and SDF; around 200 civil and military targets were bombed between January 20 and January 25. The report says at least 65 civilians, including 20 children and 12 women, have been killed in attacks targeting the Northern and Western areas of Afrin. The report emphasizes that 163 civilians have been wounded and 62 of these wounded civilians are women and children.

	There are grave concerns for the civilians

	The report also says, “Civilians have to take shelter in shelters in very bad condition due to Turkish bombardments. Humanitarian and medical needs for the civilians in the area have increased due to the displacement and bombardment. There are grave concerns for the civilians, particularly children and women, who are in remote areas and have lack of access to proper healthcare, shelter and food access.”

	The report states that at least three civilians were killed and a civilian was wounded in the artillery shelling on Kobanê, Manbij, Cizire Canton and Afrin; “In addition to killed 63 civilians and more than wounded 160 civilians, there are people under the ruins of the buildings those were targeted by the Turkish airstrike.
