Canan takes over the leadership: They are afraid of me because I am in politics with my female identity!

	ISTANBUL - Canan Kaftancıoğlu, who was targeted by AKP Chair Tayyip Erdoğan, has taken over the CHP’s Istanbul Provincial Chair. “They are afraid of me because I am in male-dominated politics with my female identity,” said Canan.

	 

	Canan Kaftancıoğlu, who was elected as the Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair, took over the position from Cemal Canpolat. Targeted by AKP General President Tayyip Erdoğan, Canan said, “We will stand up in 39 districts, they see this and this is why they are afraid.”

	 

	Expressing in her following statements that they will keep İstanbul alive as a city of equality, Canan Kaftancıoğlu said, “We will build Istanbul all together standing by social justice”.

	 

	‘Women defend, resist’

	 

	“They were afraid of me because I am in male-dominated politics with my female identity” Canan said, “Because women defend and resist to the end. The women are the ones will end this organized darkness. They are uncomfortable with my ideological stance that does not depend on today’s conditions. They came from Istanbul and they will leave from Istanbul. Their fear is about this.”

	 

	‘I send my greetings to Demirtaş’

	 

	Explaining all her tweets that Tayyip Erdoğan showed at his group meeting, Canan stated that her children have also been targeted and that she will continue to say ‘Stop killing children’.

	 

	Canan commented on her picture taken with Selahattin Demirtaş and she said, “I don’t feel discomfort about the picture. I am sending my greetings to People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş”.

	 

	Canan also commented on investigation opened against her and she said, “I can be jailed how Ahmet Şık has been held in prison as a terrorist. This is honorable for me.”
