Man kills Rojbin still free: Men are encouraged by the state 2018-01-15 09:06:50   DİYARBAKIR - Rojbin Baran was killed by her husband Şehmus İlhan in Dicle Neighborhood of Fiskaya quarter. Our reporters went to scene and they were threatened by Şehmus, who walked freely in the neighborhood after killing Rojbin. HDP MP Feleknas Uca posed a parliamentary question to the parliament and she said, “Men are killing women with the power they get strength from the state.”   On December 24, a man named Şehmus İlhan killed Rojbin Baran in Dicle Neighborhood of Diyarbakır’s Sur district. Our reporters went to scene to get information. Our reporters were threatened with gun by Şehmus walking freely in the neighborhood after killing Rojbin. Şehmus İlhan hasn’t been arrested yet. According to received report, Şehmus was jailed on November 20, 2017 for criminal reasons and then he was released from the prison. Politicians react to the fact that Şehmus Ilhan hasn’t been arrested yet and they point out the increasing number of femicide during the AKP’s ruling period.   ‘They are encouraged by the state’   Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Feleknas Uca recalled her parliamentary question to the parliament and she emphasized that the political attacks on women in Kurdistan become dense in the last period. Feleknas said Şehmus Ilhan comfortably said he had killed Rojbin to the cameras; “A man killed a woman walks freely in the neighborhoods. He told the journalists that he had killed Rojbin and he threatened the journalists. We can get a result from this event; Men are killing women with the power they get from the state. Femicide has not only social outcomes; we consider the political and social outcomes.”   ‘Women have no safety of life’   Socialist Women's Assemblies member Deniz Aktaş emphasized that the number of femicide has increased during the AKP’s ruling period. And she stated that this is a state policy; “A man killed Rojbin at night and he walked freely the next day; this is unacceptable. This situation shows the misogynist policies. The killers are still walking freely in the streets and the women have no safety of life. We demand Şehmus to be arrested immediately.”
