Reaction from families to ‘One-type uniform’: We will support the prisoners’ resistance

	VAN - Relatives of prisoners react to “One-type uniform” imposition and say, “The prisoners have announced that they will not accept this dishonorable practice. As families, we will support their resistance to the end.”

	 

	The reaction to “One-type uniform” practice for prisoners put into effect by emergency decree No. 696 issued under the state of emergency is increasing. As the jailed MPs say “We will tear and throw them” against “One-type uniform” practice, the prisoners of the PKK and PAJK have announced that they will protest the practice by not using their right to see their families for a month.

	 

	Relatives of prisoners and political party representatives have indicated that they will never accept the “one type” in solidarity with the prisoners. Families and politicians have warned that this practice will cause the increasing of a new process of tension in Turkey.

	 

	‘Neither the families nor the prisoners will accept this practice’

	 

	One of the relatives Gule Komi said the two-year policies of the AKP were the same with the policies in 1990s. Indicating that a worrisome environment full of tension was created both inside and outside, Gule said all opponents were arrested.  “Neigher me, my brother nor the prisoners will accept this dishonorable practice. As families, we will support their resistance to the end,” said Gule.

	 

	The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Party Assembly member Zelal Yerlikaya said tens of thousands of their party’s members, their co-chairs and MPs had been jailed and she underlined that a major crisis and chaos were experienced in many areas of Turkey. Zelal commented on “One-type uniform” practice and she said, “The prisoners put their attitude just after the emergency decree.  We know this from the resistance in Diyarbakır Prison. The families of the prisoners will never accept this oppression against their children. Insistence on this practice will cause disappointing results. This mistake must be corrected immediately.”
