‘The government tries to discipline us with hunger’

	MALATYA - “We are living under hunger limit. Those who put us in this situation try to discipline us with hunger,” said the women opening stands at the Junk Dealers’ Bazaar in Malatya province in order to earn a livelihood.

	 

	The effect of the economy reaching rock the bottom every day in Turkey is felt mostly in the streets. The tradeswomen have their shares from this bad situation. The women opening their stands at the Junk Dealers’ Bazaar in Malatya say those who govern them put them in this situation. “Those who want to see what we face should come here,” said the women making a living from selling second hand clothes and shoes.

	 

	‘We are living under hunger limit’

	 

	Ayzeliha Dişçi takes her three children and goes to the bazaar every Sunday. “We cannot earn a living for our family,” Ayzeliha said, “I am sick and I just earn five lira in a day. All people in this bazaar collect the clothes from garbage and sell them after removing their dirty in order to make a living. Do those who govern the country know there is such a bazaar?”

	 

	‘I hate the AKP’

	 

	Saying that the responsible of what is going on is the state and those who govern the country, Ayzeliha also said, “Previously I supported the AKP but now I hate it. We have no health insurance nor work… They try to discipline us with hunger. Everyone has debt and their financial situation is bad. We will never forgive those who put us in this situation. What I should do with such state? The state doesn’t consider we are its citizens so I cannot consider this state as a state.”
