Arbitrary treatments continue in Tarsus Prison! 2017-11-21 10:23:27   MERSİN - Families went to Tarsus T-type Closed Prison to have open visit with their relatives; however, they were told ‘Visit canceled’ and they were offered to have 15-minute closed visit.   Previously, female prisoners launched a hunger strike in Tarsus T-type Closed Prison against ongoing rights violations. Families of the inmates went to the prison to have open visit; however, they were told, “Visit has been canceled; if you want you can have a 15-minute closed visit.”   Families reacted to the situation and they said they had come from far away and they had waited for this day for months. The families wanted their voice to be heard.   ‘Our children are under pressure’   Relatives of the inmates spoke to our news agency and they said, “The condition is getting worse day by day. Everything is getting worse while we expect it to be better. Our children are under pressure. We are afraid that something will happen to them.”   Stating that they waited outside of the prison for hours but they didn’t see their relatives, the families said, “How long will this persecution continue? Our children’s rights are being seized. As families, we cannot stand this unlawfulness anymore. We should speak out against ongoing unlawfulness. Everyone should speak out against ongoing rights violation in prisons.   Furthermore, family of a prisoner named H.M. in Denizli T-type Closed Prison said they child had fought for life for four months, “He has been on hunger strike for 10 days. He has reportedly had severe pain but no medicine has been given to him.”
