‘Exiled prisoners held in cells for 3 days without water and food’

	MARDİN- 26 prisoners were exiled from Diyarbakır T-type Prison to Patnos L-type Prson in Ağrı. As their seized clothes, books and radios during the exile haven’t given back to them, they were kept in cell for three days without food and water. Nure Terlak calls on everyone to speak out and to be aware towards the situation of prisoners.

	 

	On October 10, 26 prisoners were exiled from Diyarbakır T-type Closed Prison to Patnos L-type Prson in Ağrı. They were subjected to torture for not accepting the strip search while entering the prison. Nure Terlak says she saw the traces of torture on the bodies of all exiled prisoners while visiting her son in prison. States that the prisoners were kept in wards for three days without food and water, Nure calls on everyone to speak out and to be aware towards the situation of prisoners.

	 

	‘They were kept in cells for three days’

	 

	Saying that the torture is still going on in prison although weeks have passed since the prisoners were exiled, Nure added, “They faced many things during being exiled. I don’t talk only for my son but also for all prisoners. They passed days in the transport vehicle. They faced strip search when they arrived to the prison. But the prisoners didn’t accept that and 10-20 wardens battered them and forced to take off their clothes. They (wardens) didn’t give their clothes and books back. Then the prisoners were put in cells and they didn’t have food and water for three days.”

	 

	‘Everyone should speak out for the prisoners’

	 

	“Is this justice?” asks Nure and she says that keeping the prisoners behind bars and using torture against them are inhumane treatments. Nure calls on all relatives of prisoners and all segments; “Let’s do everything outside of the prison for our children. Let’s do whatever it takes. If we should launch a hunger strike or a sit-in, let’s do these. We cannot leave our children alone in the prison. I will file a lawsuit against this torture and oppression. If necessary, I will apply to the court of human rights.”

	 

	‘We will never bow down’

	 

	Emphasizing that the Kurds never bow down despite the torture and oppression, Nure said, “I went to see my son seven days ago, there were the traces of torture on the body of my son. Our children never bow down to torture. The Kurdish youth are honorable youth. Whenever you persecute them, they will be stronger against you. As mothers, we will never accept what is going on.”
