346th day of Yüksel Resistance: 9 people battered, detained 2017-10-20 16:47:55   ANKARA –Police attacked the people wanting to make a statement in the ongoing “We want our jobs back” action continues for 346 days on Yüksel Avenue, detained nine protesters by battering them. As the hunger strike launched by academic Nuriye Gülmen and teacher Semih Özakça, who were dismissed from their duty by an emergency decree has entered in its 224th day, the “We want our jobs” action held by supporters of Nuriye and Semih has entered in the 346th day. A group gathered in the Konur Street to support the educators and wanted to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument. Police didn’t allow them and the protesters unfurled a banner reading, “The hunger strike on the 224th day, Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and began to shout slogans, “Nuriye and Semih are our honor”. Police attacked the protesters and tore the banner and detained nine protesters by battering them.
