	The Coordination Council of the Iranian Teachers' Union announced in a statement that it had declared a general mourning period for the students and teachers killed in the protests. The statement called on all teachers and students not to go to school tomorrow, to attend the mourning ceremonies to be held for the students and teachers killed, and to convey their condolences to their families.

	 

	Another section of the statement read: “If students are not safe in the streets, if schools cease to be places of learning and become detention centers, our silence will only deepen this tragedy. Protecting schools is protecting the future. The right to life is above all else.”
