Ceasefire violation in Kobanê 2026-01-25 15:52:37   NEWS CENTRE - Sources reporting on the latest situation in North and East Syria stated that despite the ceasefire, the gangs were not complying with it, saying, "They say the villages have been emptied, but that is not the case at all. The people are here and will defend their land."   Following attacks on the Şêxmeqsûd and Eşrefiyê neighbourhoods of Aleppo on 6 January, HTS, DAISH and gangs affiliated with Turkey have now turned their attention to Kobanê. While Kobanê is under siege by gangs, the cutting off of internet, electricity and water in the city is deepening the humanitarian crisis.    Sources stated that despite the ceasefire previously agreed upon by the QSD and Damascus, attacks continued, and even though the ceasefire was extended, the gangs attacked. ‘Specifically, the area around Kobanê was constantly bombed and it did not stop. Yes, there is talk of a ceasefire, but the gangs are breaking this ceasefire in places and attacking. We are trying to stop the gangs from advancing."    Special war policies are a lie   Sources stating that Kobanê is currently one of the cities facing the most difficult conditions and circumstances say, "There is no electricity, no water and no internet. Five children have lost their lives to the cold, and people in the four parts of Kurdistan are joining the mobilisation. Despite all the attacks, the morale of the people is very good. There is life here with the spirit of mobilisation. People are determined to defend their land and their lives. Turkey and the Damascus government are waging a special war, saying “the villages are empty, no one is left”, but that is absolutely not the case. People are on their land, defending themselves."   Finally, the sources said: ‘The unity of the Kurds in the four parts of Kurdistan is, of course, a great morale booster for the people here."
