
Sêmalka resistance on its 59th day

	NEWS CENTER - The vigil action started by the Martyrs’ Families Council at the Sêmalka Border Gate continues on its 59th day.

	In the ambush laid by the armed special forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the Xelîfan region of the Federated Kurdistan Region on August 28-29, five People’s Defence Forces (HPG) members lost their lives and two HPG members, one of whom was injured, survived. KDP forces do not give the bodies of HPG members to families for 96 days.

	Families, who wanted to cross from North East Syria’s Cizire Canton to the Federated Kurdistan Region through the Sêmalka Border Gate to take the bodies, were prevented by KDP forces. Peace Mothers and families of HPG members set up a tent at the Sêmalka Border Gate and started to vigil. Cizire Martyrs’ Families Council, which came together in Cizire Canton of North and East Syria to take the bodies of Nesrin Temir from YJA STAR and Yusif İbrahim from HPG, set up a tent at the Sêmalka Border Gate and started a vigil. The vigil action started by the families continues on the 59th day.

	Support visits to the vigil

	All day long, support visits are made to the vigil started at the Sêmalka Border Gate, and mass marches are organized towards the border gate. In Northern and Eastern Syria, many institutions, non-governmental organizations, political parties visit the action and take over the vigil. The mothers stated that they will continue their actions until the bodies are given.
