Reaction to Nazife Yiğit’s arrest: ‘It is cruelty’

	DİYARBAKIR - Making a statement for the Peace Mother Nazife Yiğit, who was arrested on November 15 on allegations of ‘’being a member to a terrorist organization’’, the Peace Mothers Council said that her arrest is cruelty and that this is not acceptable.

	 

	As part of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Public Prosecution Office, 19 people were detained in the raids carried out in five cities on November 8-9. 14 people, including Peace Mother Nazife Yiğit, were arrested on allegations of ‘’being a member to a terrorist organization’’, and five people were released on condition of judicial control. The Peace Mothers Assembly made a press release on the subject at the association’s building in Diyarbakır.

	 

	‘It is unacceptable to arrest any mother’

	 

	Speaking on behalf of the mothers, member of the Peace Mothers Raife Özbey stated that the unlawful detention of the Peace Mothers is unacceptable. Raife called for Nazife Yiğit’s immediate release and said, ‘’Why are mothers so persecuted? It is unacceptable to arrest any mother. We will never accept this brutality against women and mothers, and Mother Nazife should be released’’.
