ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment on agenda of parliament 2021-11-16 17:07:22   ANKARA - HDP Women’s Council Spokesperson Ayşe Acar Başaran brought the ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment No.190 to the parliament’s agenda and asked, ‘’Will you ratify and implement the convention?’’   Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council Spokesperson and Batman MP Ayşe Acar Başaran submitted a parliamentary question to the Speaker’s Office with the request to be answered by Vice President Fuat Oktay regarding the entry into force of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention on Violence and Harassment No.190.   ‘So far, 6 countries have ratified it’   In the parliamentary, it was stated that ILO’s Violence and Harassment Convention No. 190 came into force recently, and it was emphasized that it was the first international convention regarding violence and harassment in the working life. In the parliamentary questions said, ‘’The Convention includes gender-based violence and sexual harassment; It aims to rid workplaces of all kinds of physical, sexual, psychological violence and harassment, including shouting, threats and teasing. Six countries have so far ratified the convention, which was adopted two years ago at the International Labour Conference. In many workplaces in Turkey, especially women, declare that they work under pressure and harassment’’.   The following questions were asked to Vice President Fuat Oktay:    ‘’* Will you ratify and implement the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention on Violence and Harassment No. 190? * Will you prevent all kinds of physical, sexual and psychological violence in the workplaces?’’
