Mother of prisoner: Pressures increase if we remain silent 2021-10-09 12:46:23       Medya Üren   MARDİN - Rabia Asi, who reacted to the guards raiding the wards in Şakran Women’s Closed Prison accompanied by the police and taking some prisoners to a different ward, said that her daughter is sick and that the pressure will increase if the families remain silent.   The guards and the police, who raided the wards with batons in Izmir Şakran Women’s Closed Prison on October 6, took the prisoners to another ward. Cihan Asi, who gave information to her mother Rabia Asi in a phone call with her family about the raid, said that they were taken to another ward.   Rabia said that her daughter informed them that they face a different pressure every day. Rabia said: ‘’Now they are raiding the wards. They forcibly took them to another ward and separated them from each other. My daughter told us, ‘There is nothing in this ward. The ward is empty and has no water, no sink, not clean. It was used years ago and has been empty for a long time. Cannot stand there because of damp smell. We will get sick if we stay there for a few days. They separated us from our other friends.’’   ‘We are worried’   Saying that her daughter has cancer, Rabia stated that her condition is bad. Rabia stated that the pressures aggravated the situation of the sick prisoners and said: ‘’We wanted her to receive a good treatment, but now our concerns have increased, we do not think that they will operate on her from the prison. Now they have taken them to an empty ward. Her condition gets worse. There are many sick prisoners like Cihan. The pressures have always been there, but they are increasing. They make it increasingly difficult for us and for them. We cannot see them. We cannot even talk comfortably because they listened when we went. I can list the thousands of problems they have experienced. They are under isolation and we are concerned about their situation.’’   ‘If we remain silent, the pressures will increase’   Rabia said that if we remain silent against the pressures on the prisoners, the pressures will increase even more, and said: ‘’The prisoners want us to hear their voices. Turkey does not implement its own laws today. All their approaches towards us are arbitrary. As long as we remain silent, the pressures increase. We as families must stand up. In particular, I want politicians to voice these events in the relevant places.’’
