Tülay Hatimoğulları: ‘Prosecutors resisted not to receive the petition’

	ANKARA - HDP MP Tülay Hatimoğulları stated that she filed a criminal complaint against the persons who tried to break into her home by saying ‘’We are the plainclothes police’’ through her lawyer, and pointed out that the prosecutor’s refusal to receive the complaint petition and not coming to investigate the crime scene causes suspicion.

	 

	Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Adana MP Tülay Hatimoğulları held a press conference at the Headquarters building with HDP Vice Co-Chair Ümit Dede who is responsible from Law and Human Rights Commission about the two people who introduced themselves as police officers and wanted to break into her home on September 24. HDP MPs, HDP Women’s Council, Central Executive Board members, Vice Co-chairs and members attended the press conference.

	 

	Tülay said that the human rights violations that have increased recently all over Turkey, the behaviors that aim at human life, the kidnapping of young people by showing police identity, torture and agencification are the issues that have been experienced recently. Tülay stated: ‘’I have experienced a similar situation as a MP of this country. Last Friday, two people who introduced themselves as ‘plainclothes police’ exerted pressure by pushing the bell on my door and insistently trying to enter the house.’’

	 

	‘Not an isolated incident’

	 

	Tülay continued as: ‘’When the doorbell rang, I looked through the lens and did not open the door. They knew we were inside, there was probably a follow. They continued to press the bell, forcing the door, insistently saying ‘we are the plainclothes police’. I said, ‘I am a member of parliament, neither a police nor anyone else can enter my house like this’. I told them that I should not open the door, that I did not know what to be faced with, that I would inform the police station. They kept on saying ‘we are the plainclothes police’. This continued on for several minutes. Meanwhile, I reached out to my party friends and we informed the police station. As they go down the stairs and left, they walked away towards the Esat crossroads. This is not an isolated incident. We are waiting for the statements to be made by official institutions.’’

	 

	‘Prosecutors resisted not to receive the petition’

	 

	Stating that she made the necessary application to the police station and the prosecutor’s office, Tülay also applied to the parliament on the subject. Tülay said: ‘’I would like to share with you an interesting incident that we encountered yesterday. My lawyer goes to the prosecutor’s office, about 7-8 prosecutors are visited to file a criminal complaint. Prosecutors resisted not to receive the petition. The prosecutor on duty tries not to receive the petition by saying ‘I am not the prosecutor on duty’. After my lawyer brings the prosecution timetable and puts it in front of him, he has to take the petition. In the meetings with the police station, we said that if there is an official arrival, we should be notified. They said yes, there is a suspicious situation at the police station. They still have not given us any information about what this suspicious situation is. We wanted the cameras to be watched before the evidence was blackened, but there was no official statement made. Five days have passed since the incident, and the door of a member of parliament was forced by two armed people. Despite our immediate complaint, the fact that no satisfactory explanation was given caused great concern.’’
