Demand for acquittal about ETHA reporter Meşale Tolu 2021-09-16 14:34:39     ISTANBUL - In the case in which 27 people, including ETHA reporter Meşale Tolu, were tried, the prosecutor demanded acquittal of all defendants of ‘’being a member of a terrorist organization’’, while demanding punishment for 13 people with the allegation of ‘’propagandizing for a terrorist organization’’.   The hearing of the case in which 27 people, including Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Meşale Tolu, were tried on charges of ‘’being a member of a terrorist organization’’ and ‘’making propaganda for a terrorist organization’’ was held at the Istanbul 29th High Criminal Court in Çağlayan. While journalist Meşale did not attend the hearing, which started with identification, her lawyer Keleş Öztürk was present. In addition, Ceren Çaban, who were on trial for the same charges, and case lawyers also took part in the hearing.   Punishment request   The hearing prosecutor, who gave his opinion, demanded acquittal of 27 people, including Meşale, on charges of ‘’being a member of a terrorist organization’’, and requested punishment for 13 people with the allegation of ‘’propagandizing for a terrorist organization’’. Speaking about the opinion, Meşale’s lawyer Keleş Öztürk stated that they agreed with the demand for acquittal of the prosecution’s opinion, and that they would make their broad assessments later.   Hearing postponed   While other lawyers also requested time to make a statement against the opinion on the merits, the court board, which accepted the lawyers’ request for time, postponed the hearing to December 24.
