Dutch Parliament recognizes Êzidî Genocide 2021-07-07 13:25:14     NEWS CENTER - The Dutch Parliament officially recognized the Êzidî Genocide.   The Dutch Parliament recognized the attack of ISIS against Êzidîs that started on August 3, 2014, and the massacres that followed it as genocide. The draft resolution of the Christian Democrats Union (CDA) MP Anne Kuik to recognize the massacres perpetrated by ISIS gangs as genocide was discussed and voted in the Dutch Parliament yesterday.   In the proposal, it was stated that the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the US House of Representatives, the UN Syria Commission and recently the Belgian Parliament defined the brutal practices of ISIS against Êzidîs, Christians and different ethnic and religious groups as crimes against humanity and genocide.   The proposal included the statement: ‘’The Parliament declares that ISIS committed genocide against the Êzidîs and committed crimes against humanity.’’ Along with this proposal, four more draft resolutions on genocide, which started on June 3, 2014, were approved by voting.   The accepted articles are as follows:   * Having the voice of Êzidîs heard in the cases of ISIS members in the Netherlands and recognizing the right to compensation of the victims of genocide.   *The trial of ISIS, including the ISIS members who go abroad and commit crimes in the region, will be held in the region where they committed crimes.   * Increasing support funds for Êzidî women and children who are victims of ISIS barbarism.   * The government's support for the rebuilding of Shengal.   In the session held in the Dutch Parliament on July 1, Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag announced that they supported the proposal as the government. Sigrid Kaag stated that as the Dutch government, they were working in the international arena for the recognition of the Êzidî Genocide, but they could not get political support in this regard. However, Sigrid Kaag, who stated that they will continue their efforts to ensure this, said that they will continue to collect the evidence regarding the crimes of genocide and submit it to the United Nations’ international independent research delegation.   The Belgian Parliament also started the process   With this step of the parliament, the Netherlands has been added to the list of countries that recognize the Êzidî Genocide. The Belgian Parliament also launched official process last week for the recognition of ISIS's massacres to Êzidîs as genocide.
