Law office opened to follow cases against HDP

	ANKARA - The law office, which was established to carry out the legal process preparations for the closure case against HDP and the Kobanê Political Genocide Trial, was opened.

	 

	A law office was opened in Ankara's Çankaya district to carry out the legal preparation process of the lawsuits filed against the People’s Democratic Party (HDP), especially the closure case and the Kobanê Political Genocide Trial. HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar, many MPs and lawyers attended the opening of the office. A banner “We defend the HDP” was hung in the hall where the office's opening event was held. Mithat Sancar made the opening speech.

	 

	‘There was another important reason there’

	 

	Stating that the lawsuits brought against the HDP targeted everyone who believes in peace, democracy and justice, Mithat said: ‘’The first indictment was returned by the General Board of the Constitutional Court because it was sloppy, incomplete and contained incorrect information. There was another important reason. There was a reason in the indictment that there was not enough connection between the acts attributed to the founders and members of the party and the reason for being the focus of the closure case. We see that the same nonsense continues. We can easily conclude that the Constitutional Court did not perform a meticulous study while accepting the new indictment. We are waiting for the official notification of the indictment.’’

	 

	‘Hope for peace depends on HDP’s struggle’

	 

	Mithat stated that everyone should take a clear stance in this case and said: ‘’Otherwise, he/she will be under a heavy sin both in the conscience of the public, in the consciousness of the society, and in the face of history. We say that we will not have the HDP shut down, we will keep it alive. We will not only keep it alive, we will grow it, we will continue on our way by growing. Because the hope of peace, democracy and freedom in this country depends on the HDP's struggle, existence, and determination.’’

	 

	‘HDP is not composed of individuals’

	 

	Mithat continued his speech as follows: ‘’The party will not be closed, we will not have it shut down. We will achieve this with the support and power of the people, with the joint effort of the democratic forces. But if the HDP is closed, then no one should doubt that we will reveal our weight, influence and power in the clearest way that will determine Turkey's future in the elections. Because HDP is not composed of individuals. The heavy bearer of this idea is the people themselves, who do not give in to such cruelty and oppression, and do not bow down a millimeter. Those people will give the necessary answers without any hesitation to those who make small calculations and play dirty games here. We will not have the slightest hesitation in fulfilling our responsibility in this regard both to the public and to history.

	 

	‘We are here, standing with the people’

	 

	Our struggle will show everyone these results in the field of law, in the field of democratic politics, and in elections when the time comes. Everyone should set their plans and games accordingly. We are here, we are standing with the people, we continue our way with determination, we will progress by growing. We will meet frequently in our office, not only our lawyer friends, but also we, as co-chairs, will sometimes carry out our work here.’’
