Agricultural workers have no expectation from government 2021-06-10 13:45:21     Derya Ren    ADIYAMAN - Agricultural workers, whose labor is exploited, pointed out that they had no expectations from the government and said: "We are exhausted, worn out."   The economic crisis in Turkey, which is deepening with each passing day, has become something that people cannot breathe. It is possible to see the effects of the economic crisis in the field of agriculture as in every field. Women workers working in agriculture are forced to struggle with the male-dominated mentality as well as the economic crisis. Although they do not receive support from the government, they do not receive the return of their efforts.   Women working in the tobacco field in Pınarbaşı (Bulam) town of Çelikhan district of Adıyaman talked about the difficulties they experienced.   ‘I have to work’   Saying that they started work at 05:00 in the morning, Saniye Horoz stated that she left her children alone at home because she went to the field and continued as: "Because I leave my children alone, they cry every time I go home. But I have nothing to do with it. Because if I do not leave them, they will starve. Our situation. "It is much better than seasonal workers, but seasonal workers are in a very difficult situation. I am here, it is close, it is easier. The situation of seasonal workers is dire."   ‘No one came to ask us’   Stating that the people of the region do not have any expectations from the government, Saniye emphasized: "I do not have any expectations from the government, either, because we have not received anything from the government so far. I am currently living in the region where the AKP won. However, people say, ‘Why are we like this? Why are we in such a situation?’ We did not have water last year. But nobody came and asked about us. When we reported the situation to the authorities, we were told, ‘do not disturb us.’ If it were a wealthy group, they wouldn't have experienced this."   ‘I have zero expectations from the government’   Saying that only money is spoken in Turkey, Saniye added that people with money have access to all kinds of opportunities. Saniye said: "The government offers all kinds of support to those who have money. For example, everyone should have the vaccine normally, but we look, the person who has money gets the vaccine. But the person who does not have money is also left to die. The existing government also talks about money. Everyone mobilizes all means for their supporters and relatives. People are trying as hard as they can. But how long will this continue? I have zero expectations from the government. We are getting more and more exhausted every day."   ‘I want the government to change’   Saying that the existing order should change, and the opposition parties need to tidy themselves up, Saniye continued: "I think HDP is also in a quiet situation in the face of what is happening right now. Political parties should be among the people. The state has started to give people a thousand liras during the pandemic process. "But if people do not need that thousand lira, they will definitely not go and buy that money. But for now, people need that money. I want this government to fall as soon as possible."   ‘Women are always oppressed’   Expressing that they work in the tobacco field from morning to night, Elif Büyüktaş said that their earnings do not mean anything compared to their efforts. Adding that they work from morning to night as women, but they are not appreciated, Elif said: "Because they attribute everything to men. Men are always kept on top, but we women are always oppressed. Yes, we go to the fields with the men, but when they come home in the evening, they can lie down and rest. But we We have to cook. We are tired, we are exhausted, we are worn out. We deal with everything, but women's labor is not seen. Every moment is spent working. There is no such thing as equality."
