‘We are organizing against unfair policies’ 2020-11-10 12:22:49   ISTANBUL - HDP Istanbul Women's Council aims to be together with women against the "unfair policies of the state" for 25 November Events.   Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Women's Council started activities of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25 with a statement made in Bakırköy Freedom Square previous day. During the November 25 Events, where the HDP Women's Council started; there are many overarching subjects such as violence against women, the Istanbul Convention, the impact of the economy on women, and awareness raising works.   'We will raise the voices of women'   HDP Istanbul Women's Assembly Spokesperson Beser Çelik gave information about November 25 activities they started. Noting that the events cover the period of November 25 and beyond, Beser stated that apart from the planning of the Central Women's Council, there are also local actions and activities. Beser pointed out that violence and massacres against women have been experienced intensely in the last period, and said that they are planning events such as panels, women's meetings and cinematography in order to improve the organizational sphere of local women and raise their voices against women's massacres.   'Women are targeted with the execution law'   Emphasizing that women's policies were committed unfairly during the period we live in, Beser said, “We all experienced the period in which the pandemic hit women the most. Turkish state; in this process, while it was necessary to develop different policies regarding unemployment and disease, it was based on an understanding that legitimizes the abusers, rapists, and those who committed the murder of women with the execution law in a place that targets women with the execution law in the most troublesome period.  ''   'We will reveal the consciousness in women'   Beser stated that they are working to reveal the awareness of women by expanding the local network against all these policies of the state. Emphasizing that the Istanbul Convention is not implemented and that it is a problem, Beser stated that during the activity processes, it will be discussed what can be done to improve the Istanbul Convention, and that raising awareness  by activities will be made with seminars and various activities.   'More women will get organized'   Underlining that women are experiencing economic problems, Beser stated that due to economic reasons, women suffer from a lack of self-confidence and that women cannot reflect their own ideas, and that they will come together with women with activities including all these. Beser emphasized that more women will be organized with the demands of the locals by working with other women's organizations to develop their organizational networks during and after the  November 25.   'Women should engage in dialogue with us'   Emphasizing that women should expand their organizational networks in order to reflect their self-confidence more economically and politically, Beser said, “Whatever they can do together with the HDP Women's Council, they should apply to us. They should establish a dialogue with us so that they can truly reflect their own ideas and colors in all of our actions and events ”.   'We are together with women'   Stating that state violence is applied intensely regardless of the language and color of women and that they also apply these policies in their activities, Beser stated that they aim to be together with women regardless of their ethnic identity, language and culture in the HDP Women's Meeting.
